Instagram Reels are short-form videos designed for mobile viewing. When a Reel is public and supported, VGSAVE can check its URL and show the media options available from the source. Use the service only when you own the content or have permission to download it.
How to download a public Instagram Reel
- Open the public Reel and copy its link.
- Open the VGSAVE downloader.
- Paste the Reel URL into the public media URL field.
- Select Get download options.
- Choose an MP4 quality shown for that source.
- Wait for the file to finish preparing and download it.
Why quality options vary
The available quality comes from the source media. A particular Reel may not provide every resolution. Higher resolutions can also mean larger files, more storage use, and longer preparation or transfer times.
VGSAVE does not promise 1080p or 4K for every Reel and does not create missing source detail. Read the video quality guide for more information.
Why an Instagram Reel may fail
- The Reel is private, restricted, removed, or inaccessible.
- The URL is not currently supported.
- The source platform has changed its delivery system.
- A temporary processing or network problem occurred.
If a public supported link fails, try again later and use the troubleshooting guide. VGSAVE is not designed to bypass private access controls.

Can a Reel be converted to MP3?
For compatible public media, VGSAVE may display an MP3 option. The current target is 192 kbps, while the final audio result depends on the source. See the MP3 guide.
Copyright and responsible use
A public Reel can still be protected by copyright, privacy rights, or licensing terms. Public visibility does not automatically give permission to copy or redistribute it. Make sure your intended use is authorized and follow applicable platform rules.
